DMZ in Modern Warfare 4 is built around keeping an Operator alive long enough for their choices to matter. When the Hajin Exclusion Zone opens on October 23, 2026, each run can feed directly into a character's development rather than just filling a stash. Players looking at Modern Warfare 4 Boosting will probably care most about this part: Trait Points belong to the Operator on the ground, so picking the right person before deployment is a real decision. You cannot expect one successful run to improve everybody waiting back at base.
One Operator, One Personal Track
Trait Points are not a shared pool. If your preferred rifle-focused Operator completes a contract and gets out safely, that character receives the progress. The medic, scavenger, or recon specialist in another Active Duty slot gets nothing from it. That makes roster planning much more important than it first appears. It is worth giving each Operator a job, then taking them into missions that suit that job.
| Operator focus | Useful deployment choices | Likely trait direction | | Combat | Bounties, hostile strongholds, weapon cases | Firefights and survival | | Resource runner | Supply searches, material recovery, safe extracts | Looting and carrying capacity | | Mission specialist | Story tasks and timed operations | Utility and tactical support |
Points Come From Doing the Work
You earn progress by actually getting involved during a deployment. Story assignments, changing field operations, side objectives, exploration, and successful extractions all give a run some weight. Sitting out the action may keep you safe for a while, but it will not do much for an Operator's growth. A practical routine looks like this.
Choose an Active Duty Operator with a clear purpose.
Take objectives that fit that Operator's planned build.
Finish what you can without carrying unnecessary risks.
Extract to keep the earned Trait Points and review the build.
Spend Them at the FOB
After extraction, head back to the Forward Operating Base and open the Active Duty section. Select the exact Operator used in that run; it is easy to click the wrong slot when several characters have similar gear. From there, Trait Points can be placed in one of three Trait Trees. The choice should match how you honestly play. If you tend to push contracts and chase high-value targets, combat perks make sense. If you are the teammate who always comes home with crafting parts, lean into the resource-focused path. The FOB is also where inventory, equipment, character looks, and 3D-printer crafting are handled, so it is a good moment to reset before the next drop.
Build a Roster That Covers the Map
Hajin will not ask for the same approach every night. A hard-hitting Operator may be perfect for a bounty run, while a careful collector is better for gathering rare materials and leaving early. Level each character deliberately instead of spreading attention at random. Players who want a more controlled practice setting can look into CoD MW4 Bot Lobbies before taking a favourite Operator into riskier objectives. That little bit of preparation can save a well-developed loadout when a run turns rough.
